Remember when NeNe Leakes was our favorite housewife from the Real Housewives of Atlanta?  She was fun, outgoing, raw, fabulous, and she made us laugh. I’m sure many of us could see her as a BFF.

Well, the tide has turned.

After the last series wrapped up a week ago, it has become abundantly clear to many that NeNe is just one hot mess. She looks great thanks to the plastic surgeries, but I think her popularity has given her a HUGE head, and its NOT cute honey.

Her cat-fights and bickering with other housewives and gay boyfriend Dwight, her backstabbing and trash-talking, and her loud, annoying, argumentative, obnoxious behavior is a turnoff.

There’s no denying that NeNe’s “over-the-top” personality works well for TV.  But damn NeNe, damn! Do you have to fight with everybody?  Is being a loud-mouthed instigator the only way you can make a name for yourself?

It was reported, that while shooting an upcoming reality show, Nene Leakes made a lot of enemies including Star Jones and Dionne Warwick and even made LaToya Jackson cry.

On Celebrity Apprentice, which is slated to air in March, NeNe made her hatred for former co-host of The View Star Jones known.

During a visit to ‘The Wendy Williams Show,’ the housewife said, “I’m not feeling Star Jones, I’m sorry. I gave her a chance when I first got there, I did…I wouldn’t spit on Star if she was on fire.”

Truth is, I’m embarrassed.

I’m afraid to say that this behavior will go down in the dustbin of entertainment history as crude stock characters that symbolize the degradation of American culture.

I’m embarrassed for NeNe. I’m embarrassed to even admit that maybe, just maybe, I too will be watching. I’m embarrassed that this kind of behavior only plays into the stereotypical and clichéd images of black women.

I am sensitive about this because I am a black woman. I hope in time, NeNe can and will take a step back and realize that although 15 minutes may be extended into 20 minutes, character and integrity last a lifetime.
