Tiger Woods wins 2011 Chevron Tournament, first victory in two years [Video]

After going more than two years and 26 tournaments without a win, and after so much turmoil in his personal life and with his golf game, Tiger Woods put an end to his drought by winning the Chevron World Challenge in Thousand Oaks, CA on Sunday Dec 4.

“I felt normal, felt very comfortable… I’ve been here so many times that, you know, I just feel very comfortable being here in this position….Was I nervous? Absolutely…. People don’t realize how hard it is to win golf tournaments. They’re not easy.” Woods told reporters during a press conference.

He made birdies at 17 and 18 to erase a one-shot deficit and beat former Masters champion Zach Johnson by one stroke in the unofficial 18-man event.

Over the last two years, Tiger had to struggle with his injuries, including knee and ankle problems that put him off from playing in the U.S. and British opens this year.

R.I.P.: Former heavyweight champ Joe Frazier dies at 67

Boxing great Joe Fraizer aka ‘Smokin Joe’ died last evening Nov 7, after a brief battle with liver cancer at the age of 67.

The ex-heavyweight Champion will always be remembered as Muhammad Ali’s greatest opponent and the first boxer to defeat him.

“I am who I am, and yes, I whipped Ali all three times,” Frazier told the New York Times in 2006.

“The world has lost a great champion,” Ali said in a statement on Monday. “I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.”

Frazier won the Olympic heavyweight boxing gold medal for the United States in 1964 in Tokyo and held the world heavyweight boxing crown from 1970 to 1973

Frazier amassed a career record of 32 wins, four defeats and one draw. He retired after a second loss to George Foreman in 1976, then came out of retirement for a fight in 1981 before ending his career for good. Rest In Peace Joe.

Shaq’s Uncut dishes on Kobe Bryant, LeBron James and more

More and more excerpts from Shaquille O’Neal‘s new memoir ‘Shaq Uncut: My Story’ are being released.

The highlights below reflects on his then Cavaliers teammate LeBron James, his 2007 run-in with then-Heat coach Pat Riley, what really led to his feud with Kobe Bryant, his crush on Halle Berry and more.

On what started his feud with Kobe: So I’m on edge because I don’t have a new deal, and Kobe is on edge because he might be going to jail, so we’re taking it out on each other. Just before the start of the ’03-’04 season the coaching staff called us in and said, “No more public sparring or you’ll get fined.” … Phil was tired of it. Karl Malone and Gary Payton were sick of it. … So what happens? Immediately after that Kobe runs right out to Jim Gray and does this interview where he lets me have it. He said I was fat and out of shape. He said I was milking my toe injury for more time off, and the injury wasn’t even that serious. (Yeah, right. It only ended my damn career.) He said I was “lobbying for a contract extension when we have two Hall of Famers playing pretty much for free.” I’m sitting there watching this interview and I’m gonna explode. Hours earlier we had just promised our coach we’d stop. It was a truce broken. I let the guys know, “I’m going to kill him.” More >

Kobe Bryant Covers ‘GQ’ Italy November 2011

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant is on the cover of GQ Italy Novemeber 2011 issue.

Since I do not speak Italian, I’ve managed to do some english translation thanks to Google. Check below

If there was one thing that frightened him, were the bees: ”Being attacked by a swarm was a recurring nightmare. My dream, however, was to fly like Superman.”

Kobe Bryant has realized that dream. At least in part. Because the sample of the Los Angeles Lakers flew to the roof of the basketball world at least five times, aswere the five who won NBA titles.

Bryant will not arrive in Italy, as he had dreamed the president of Virtus Bologna,Claudio Sabatini. But if it is true that the ”Martian” did not come from us, we at GQwe went to him. Or rather: inside him. To discover his childhood, because you love so much our country, we make a personal advisor of clothing at his side. Andabove all, his response to the most important question of all: ”Are you happy?”.

You can find it in the video above. That’s just the anticipation of what you can findon the new issue of GQ, on sale from November 2.
