Lauryn Hill tax evasion sentencing Postponed

Lauryn Hill was photographed leaving a New Jersy court yesterday (April 22) after the judge postpones her sentencing for federal tax evasion and gave her two weeks to pay back taxes.
Back in June 2012, the entertainer pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges in June 2012 for failure to pay federal taxes on $1.8 million earned from 2005-2007.
The sentencing was postponed until May 6 after a dispute arose over how much money she actually owes.
Newark, NJ Patch reports: “Judge Madeline Cox Arleo took Hill to task for failing to pay off the more than $500,000 in federal taxes she owes despite earlier promises to do so before her sentencing Monday. Arleo also noted that Hill has millions of dollars in real-estate equity and an income stream from royalties, as well as money coming from a recording contract she recently signed with Sony”…. read the rest here

Reese Witherspoon was arrested and jailed for disorderly conduct after she refused to cooperate with law enforcement while her husband, Jim Toth, was given a field sobriety test in Atlanta on Friday (April19).
In a statement, the Oscar winning actress said she’s “deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior.”
Apparently, officers pulled over the hubby for “weaving across a double line,” and arrested him for failing the sobriety test. During his arrest, Reese tried to use the “Do you know my name?” and “You’re about to find out who I am,” tactic but that did not work. Read the details of the arrest here
Kim Zolciak Releases Statement on Kandi Burruss’ ‘Tardy for the Party’ Lawsuit!

A week after Kandi Burruss sued her former cast mate of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Atlanta for profits made from the sale her 2009 single “Tardy for the Party, Kim Zolciak-Biermann has responded to the lawsuit, calling it a publicity stunt for Kandi’s upcoming show “The Kandi Factory,” on Bravo.

“The lawsuit led by Kandi Burruss and Rodney Richard aka Don Vito against Kim Zolciak-Biermann over the song “Tardy For The Party” is without merit and suspicious in its timing…The song was created by four people who share in the royalties: Kim, her daughter (who co-wrote the original song in season one of the RHOA show before Kandi joined the show in season two) Kandi and Don Vito. To date, Kim has written checks to Kandi and Don Vito in excess of $23,000…Kandi Burruss and her legal team are well aware of the truth regarding the song and the payments Kandi and Don Vito received from Kim. That is a clear fact. But we find the greatest truth in the fact that Kandi Burruss has been in the music business for many years and it appears she has made many mistakes in dealing with the song. We assume this has been a major lesson for Kandi. Maybe focusing on her next 15 minutes of fame should not have been the priority for Kandi versus three and a half years after the song was released, Kandi realizing she handled all aspects of the song in a very sloppy and messy way. We understand it is not the first time either. As Kandi is also a music industry veteran, it is also a shame.”
In the lawsuit, Kandi claims the song was released without her “authorization, license or consent.” She also wants a temporary restraining order issued in order to stop any future sales of the song.
Kandi has hired another housewife Phaedra Parks as her lawyer.
Ja Rule to leave prison in gun case sometime today…

Looks like Ja Rule won’t be leaving prison anytime soon! The rapper was set to leave an upstate prison today Feb 21 after serving about two years for illegal gun procession… but instead of heading home, the 36-yr-old entertainer will head straight into federal custody to complete a tax evasion sentence.
”I Got one more day In this bitch Sev,” he told producer 700 in a phone conversation.
His state prison term began in June 2011 and was the result of a 2010 traffic stop in which New York City police said they found a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun in Ja Rule’s car. He admitted in federal court in March 2011 that he failed to pay taxes on more than $3 million in income between 2004-06 and was sentenced to 28 months in prison.
Ja Rule’s defense attorney says the rapper may have fewer than six months left on his sentence and could be eligible for a halfway house. The lawyer, Stacey Richman, said Ja Rule still owes $1.1 million in back taxes, and is eager to resume working to pay the debt. “Many people are looking forward to experiencing his talent again,” Richman said.

Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested and charged with “possession of marijuana and paraphernalia” while en route to perform at a homecoming event at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore yesterday (Feb 14)
The rapper, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, was traveling in a white Ford van with six other people, when they were pulled over by troopers, but only 2 Chainz was arrested. He was later released with a citation… and a photo with the arresting officers.
After his arrest, Chaniz, took to twitter and tweeted about his experience, saying, although the cops locked him up, they wanted pics.

Plus, even though his security said the suspected drug belonged to him, 2Chainz was arrested anyway.
Not to mention my security said it was his and they said , he don’t smoke ,, how da fuk u know? Haha wut a valentines day!!!
The rapper made it to the event and dashed out of Maryland in the wee hours of the morning!!

South African Paralympic track star Oscar Pistorius was arrested and charged with shooting-dead his girlfriend Reeva Steemkamp on Valentine’s Day inside his mansion, in a gated community of Silver Woods country estate in Pretoria East.
The 26-year-old double amputee who competed in both the Olympics and Paralympics, appeared in court today and wept as prosecutors said they would seek a charge of premeditated murder in the death of his FHM cover model girlfriend, whose body was found in a pool of blood.
