“Mama, I made it,” those were the words LeBron James said during a visit to the White House with his teammates today in Washington, DC.
The Miami Heat along with their significant others, coaches and owners, visited President Obama in the East Room of the White House to commemorate their 2012 2012 NBA Championship.
“I am honored to welcome a little up-and-coming basketball team to the White House,” Obama joked. “This team traveled a long road to get to where they are. In 2011, the Heat got all the way to the finals only to come up short. But when you fall, the real test is whether you can ignore the naysayers, pick yourself up and come back stronger. And that’s true in basketball, but it’s also true in life. That’s exactly what these guys did,” he said. More >
LeBron James accepts his 2012 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award during a reception ceremony at Espace last night, Dec 5, in New York City. The NBA player was joined by his lovely fiancee Savannah Brinson and pals Beyonce and Jay-Z.
“What I would say to that kid is there are going to be a lot of ups and downs, and there are going to be a lot of expectations” said James, after accepting the 2012 Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year award at the magazine’s annual awards celebration. “There are going to be a lot of pitfalls, too. But it’s how you come back from those pitfalls and how you come back from those situations that will define you. You have obstacles you must go through. The easy thing for me to tell that 17-year-old kid would be to avoid it all. But that’s not the right thing to do. The experiences you go through in life make you a better person.” More >

While watching her NBA Fiance LeBron James play basketball with his Miami Heat team against the Charlotte Bobcat, Savannah Brinson flashes her HUGE engagement ring, last night Dec 1 while sitting court side in Miami.
LA Times reports, “LeBron popped the question at a party to celebrate both New Year’s Eve and his 27th birthday, which was Friday. His heat teammate Dwyane Wade was in charge of holding the ring until the big moment.”
“My girl, she’s very excited,” LeBron said last night after he and the Miami Heat beat Charlotte 129-90. “She would love to answer more questions about it than me. But she’s happy, my family’s happy and that’s what it’s about.”
“It should be a surprise for any woman anytime something like that happens,” LeBron told AP. “She was surprised. It was great that all the friends and family were there to bring in a new year. Even my kids were happy about it, so that’s good. … I feel good. I feel good. It’s a good point in my life right now.”
