New Music from Lauryn Hill: ‘Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)’ [Listen]

Lauryn Hill was ‘required’ to release a new track immediately due to her ‘impending legal’ woes.
The track called “Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)” is available on iTune via her label Obverse Creation Music/ Sony.
Along with the release, the Grammy winning entertainer posted a personal message on her Tumblr page explaining why she chose to release it.
Here is a link to a piece that I was ‘required’ to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline. I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music… but the message is still there. In light of Wednesday’s tragic loss (of former label mate Chris Kelly), I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today’s unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked! - MLH

Lauryn Hill tax evasion sentencing Postponed

Lauryn Hill was photographed leaving a New Jersy court yesterday (April 22) after the judge postpones her sentencing for federal tax evasion and gave her two weeks to pay back taxes.
Back in June 2012, the entertainer pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges in June 2012 for failure to pay federal taxes on $1.8 million earned from 2005-2007.
The sentencing was postponed until May 6 after a dispute arose over how much money she actually owes.
Newark, NJ Patch reports: “Judge Madeline Cox Arleo took Hill to task for failing to pay off the more than $500,000 in federal taxes she owes despite earlier promises to do so before her sentencing Monday. Arleo also noted that Hill has millions of dollars in real-estate equity and an income stream from royalties, as well as money coming from a recording contract she recently signed with Sony”…. read the rest here

After numerous media outlets reported that Lauryn Hill is being sued by a NJ landlord for failing to pay rent, the Grammy winning entertainer has released a statement to set the record straight and denied owing rent to her landlord.
“I’d like to set the record straight: I am not squatting, and I do not owe any money to my landlord,” the 37-yr-old singer wrote on her tumblr page. “I have always stayed current on rent. I was raised in South Orange, which is why these allegations are not only false, but insulting. I am in talks with the town about resolving an unrelated issue, regarding how I use my home to work on my music, which has nothing to do with my financial obligations.
Won’t it be great when real journalism returns to replace inaccurate tabloid harassment.”

Lauryn Hill was spotted out and about in Marseille, France yesterday.
The award winning entertainer greeted fans and signed some autographs before performing with Nas at a concert.
Meanwhile, the duo just announced a joint tour which kicks off Oct 29, in Dallas, Texas. “I use the performance platform as an opportunity to express the energy of that moment, and the intention behind it,” said Ms. Hill. “I’ve been a long standing rebel against the stale, over commoditization. As artists we have opportunity to help the public evolve, raise consciousness and awareness, teach, heal, enlighten and inspire in ways the democratic process may not be able to touch. So we keep it moving.”

Rohan Marley Explains Why His Relationship with Lauryn Hill Ended!

Rohan Marley, the son of Reggae Legand Bob Marley is speaking out about the end of his relationship with award winning entertainer Lauryn HIll.
“[Our relationship] is good as in… in terms of being a mother and father to our children, it’s good. It’s not as perfect as one might want it to be. It’s just the way the road went.” He told UK’s The Voice.
The couple who met back in 1996 and have 5 children, ended their relationship last year after more than a decade together.
“As a man, there are certain things I don’t accept, and it just so happened that I didn’t accept certain things [in the relationship]. It doesn’t mean she’s [Hill] a bad person or I’m a bad person. It just didn’t work out.”
Rohan is now engaged to Brazilain supermodel Isabeli Fontana. And Lauryn welcomed her sixth child last year.

Lauryn Hill Says No To Oprah Interview, Owes State Of New Jersey

Yesterday it was revealed that Lauryn Hill turned down an interview with Oprah for the Next Chapter series on OWN.
Now today we’re hearing the Grammy Winning entertainer owes the State of New Jersey $440,000 in taxes.
TMZ reports: “A civil judgment was entered against Hill on June 14th by a Jersey court — finding the Fugees singer is responsible for $446,386 in unpaid state taxes.”
The singer also owes the federal government $1.8million and admitted to not filing taxes between 2005 and 2007.
Lauryn faces up to three years in jail and will be sentenced in November. 
Lauryn Hill Mugshot Released After Tax Evasion Arrest

Two months after pleading gulity to tax evasion, Lauryn Hill mugshot was released early yesterday by the U.S. Marshals service.
The photo was taken back in June when the award winning entertainer was booked and plead guilty on three charges of not filing taxes in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Lauryn will be sentenced in November and is facing up to three years behind bars.
In response to the charges, Ms Hill issued a statement saying she didn’t pay taxes because she “had removed herself and her family from society, in order to keep them safe, healthy, and free from danger…” read it in full here
