On relationships and a possible second marriage one day: “I obviously have a lot to say right now… I’m a woman who likes to be courted – strongly. Never say never, I guess you’d say. I’ll let love take the lead on that.”
On her career: “I love what I do, and when I don’t love what I do, I’ll make a change…I can’t be the candy queen forever.”
On being a role model: “I have no regrets…I’m not going to be everything to everyone. I can’t tell a person when it’s time for them to have sex. Or if they should have a cigarette…But I try to live my life with a lot of integrity, and, hopefully, that sends a message.”

SNL funny lady Kristen Wiig interviewed the 27-year-old singer and asked her thoughts on public consumption, tabloids, paparazzi and her personal life…
“Maybe you’d meet two or three people who had cameras, and those people would get their pictures, but it wasn’t like it is now, where every single person walking by has a camera . . . I think, for me, when it comes to meeting young kids and stuff, I always try to do everything and anything they want…. When it comes to adults, though, it’s a little different . . . Sometimes their motives are unclear, and I can feel that, and I’m a little bit more cautious. Also, if I’m working, then I’m just kind of 100 percent up for the public. But if I’m not working, then, again, I’m very cautious.”
“But I don’t really ever tolerate it—especially when it comes to my personal life or my family. When I’m working, I’m all yours. But when I’m not working, stay the fuck away. That’s how it goes. So whoever made up the idea that everyone has the right to every bit of information about you because you’re famous . . . No one made that rule. It’s not a law, and if you think it is, then you don’t really understand how the world works.”
Former Beatles member Paul McCartney was this year’s honoree as musicians like Katy Perry, Coldplay, Tony Bennett and of course Alicia Keys among others, all joined to pay tribute to the icon.
