Chad Johnson on his probation violation: “It caught me off guard”
Chad Johnson aka Chad Ochocinco was in court today.
The former NFL wide receiver turned himself into authorities after he was wanted for failing to meet the terms of his probation agreement, stemming from an altercation with his ex-wife Evelyn Johnson.
Under the agreement, Chad had a no contest plea and was put on a year probation. After missing two meetings with his probation officers, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
“As far as the warrant, it caught me off guard,” Chad told the court Monday. “I was under the impression after seeing you (the judge) the last time that all I had to do was my classes based off the wording…That’s what I did. I didn’t do any of this on purpose. I did everything I was supposed to do, and that’s all.”
After posting a $1,000 bail, Chad was released and has another hearing scheduled for June 3. [CBS Miami]
David Beckham Retires From Soccer
David Beckham, one of the most popular, handsome and well-payed athletes in the world has announced his retirement.
The 38-yr-old Soccer player who is married to fashion designer Victoria Beckham took to Facebook and shared the news.
I’m thankful to PSG for giving me the opportunity to continue but I feel now is the right time to finish my career, playing at the highest level. If you had told me as a young boy I would have played for and won trophies with my boyhood club Manchester United, proudly captained and played for my country over one hundred times and lined up for some of the biggest clubs in the world, I would have told you it was a fantasy. I’m fortunate to have realised those dreams.
To this day, one of my proudest achievements is captaining my country. I knew every time I wore the Three Lions shirt, I was not only following in a long line of great players, I was also representing every fan that cared passionately about their country. I’m honoured to represent England both on and off the pitch. More >
Dwyane Wade covers JET magazine, Talks Fatherhood, Co-Parenting
Dwyane Wade is featured on the latest issue of JET magazine.
Here’s what the Miami Heat shooting guard had to share about raising his sons, Zaire, 11, and Zion, 5— and legal guardian to his nephew Dahveon Morris, 11:
“I’m the kind of parent who asks my kids questions like what would be your ideal thing to do in the summer? This year it’s Disney World. Even though I make the final decision, I want them to feel involved. Not only in vacations but other things as well.”
On his rocky relationship with estranged ex-wife Siohvaughn Funches: “It’s been six years and hopefully one day she and I can get to the point where it’s a lot easier than it is now to co-parent.”
On his reason for pushing through the difficult custody battle:
“I didn’t set out to get full custody but I wasn’t able to see my kids the way I wanted and I’m not a parent who’s going to run away from his responsibilities. I was probably a terrible husband, but I pride myself on being a good dad.”
Dwyane Wade‘s issue of JET Magazine hit the stands on May 20.

Jason Collins’ former fiancée, Carolyn Moos, Opens Up about his coming out {Video}
Poor Carolyn Moos after investing 8 years of shared dreams, visions, emotions, energy and time, believing the idea that she’ll marry her college sweetheart and starting a family with Jason Collins, the former WNBA player just found out last week that her ex-finace is Gay.
Mr Collins, who made his BIG coming-out announcement yesterday, pulled the plug on his wedding to Carolyn back in 2009, leaving her heartbroken and confused. She had no idea he was gay. So fours years after their breakup, Jason finally revealed his homosexuality was the real reason he ended their relationship.
“It’s very emotional for me as a woman to have invested 8 years in my dream to have a husband, soul mate, and best friend in him,” Carolyn, who met Jason when they were both playing basketball for Stanford University, told TMZ. “So this is all hard to understand.”
She adds, “I care about [Jason] tremendously and only want the best for him. I want Jason to be happy for a lifetime and stay true to who he really is, inside and out.” [TMZ] Check out her interview with Piers Morgan below
NBA’s Jason Collins comes out as gay in the May 6, 2013, issue of Sports Illustrated
NBA player Jason Collins became the first active player in a major American sport to announce that he is gay.
The 34-yr-old athlete, who played this season for the Celtics and Wizards, came out in the May 6 issue of Sports Illustrated.
“I’m a 34-year-old NBA center. I’m black. And I’m gay,” Jason said in an essay. “I didn’t set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I’m happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn’t the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, “I’m different.” If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I’m raising my hand.”
“My journey of self-discovery and self-acknowledgement began in my hometown of Los Angeles and has taken me through two state high school championships, the NCAA Final Four and the Elite Eight, and nine playoffs in 12 NBA seasons.”
Kudos for your courage Jason! We wish you well!
