Raven-Symone’s Broadway Show ‘Sister Act’ To Take Final Bow in August

Sister Act will end its 16-month run on Broadway on August 26, The New York Times, reports.
The musical which cost about $10 million to produce, had “uneven ticket sales” since the beginning of the year and ”will close without recouping its full capitalization.”
Raven-Symone landed the lead role earlier this year as Deloris van Cartier. Although, “her appeal did improve ticket sales this spring,” her contract was always set to end on Aug. 26.
The show is produced by Whoopi Goldberg, “who played the lead role in the “Sister Act” movie in 1992 on which the musical is based.” The show will begin it’s North American tour soon, so producers hope for a profit. {NYT}
