The Academy shocked the world when they announced only two songs were nominated in the ‘Best Original Song’ category earlier today.

No one was more disappointed than Mary J. Blige.

See, Mary did the theme song ‘The Living Proof’ for the nominated film ‘The Help’ and felt her song should have been acknowledged.

In a tweet to her fans, Mary said “I’m so thankful for true fans like you all. It saddens me & feels like the Academy is being mean. 2 only nominate 2 of the 5 slots is….”

The category which usually features five nominees, only have two this year. Bret McKenzie for “Man or Muppet” from The Muppets and Sergio Mendes for “Real in Rio” from Rio. 

My question… is Mary “sadden” because only two songs were nominated? or because her song was snubbed? or both?
