Gayle King Addresses Oprah Winfrey’s Letter to Wendy Williams: “Oprah never wrote a letter to Wendy”
Gayle King was spotted by those pestering paparazzi as she leaves the Hearst building in New York recently.
The sighting comes after the radio and TV host called into Tom Joyner’s morning show to confirm that Oprah fully supports her new gig and slams Wendy Williams’s claims that their friendship maybe cooling off.
See, last week, during the ‘Hot Topics’ segment on her Talk Show, Wendy publicly speculated that the Oprah-Gayle friendship may be in trouble after Gayle left Oprah’s cable network to take a job hosting CBS’s new morning show.
The following day, Wendy read a letter on air saying she got it from Oprah’s “people,” denying the end of their friendship and supports Gayle’s new gig.
Gayle called into Tom Joyner’s morning show and stated, “I know Oprah never wrote a letter to Wendy.” Gayle mentioned she called Oprah to confirm and recalled the conversation prior to making the decision: “I said, ‘I’m getting all these messages that you wrote a letter to Wendy.’ “She goes, ‘Gayle, you know more than anybody knows that that’s not true.’ Number one. Number two, when Wendy was saying, ‘You know, I think it’s gonna put a dent in their friendship?’…When this opportunity was presented to me—and make no mistake, it is an opportunity—the first people I talked to were Oprah, my son and my daughter. [Oprah] said, ‘Are you kidding? This is so what you do, the news is what you love…you would be crazy to pass it up.’”
After Gayle slam Wendy claims, Wendy called into the Tom Joyner and said “I have no reason to lie about this,” Williams said. “You could not imagine that this woman just sent the letter out on her own accord.” Referring to the person (Not Oprah) who sent the letter…
