A 25-year-old business student from Beguela in Angola was crowned Miss Universe 2011 in a star-studded ceremony in Brazil’s Sao Paolo last evening (Sept 12). Leila Lopes Lopes, is the first Angolan native to capture the crown beating out 88 other beauties in the 60th anniversary of the world’s biggest beauty pageant.

After her win, she talked about being excited to get to work on her humanitarian aspirations, “as Miss Angola I’ve already done a lot to help my people. I’ve worked with various social causes. I work with poor kids, I work in the fight against HIV.” she told press

When asked what she might change about herself, Lopes replied: “Thank God I’m very satisfied with the way God created me and I wouldn’t change a thing,” reports TIME.com. “I consider myself a woman endowed with inner beauty. I have acquired many wonderful principles from my family and I intend to follow these for the rest of my life.”
