Pharrell Williams has teamed up with Palladium boots for its 2011 Fall/Winter international ad campaign called Tokyo Rising.

The short documentary series directed by Thalia Mavros, will follow the music producer on his journey as he explores the city’s landmarks and interviews locals about their clean-up efforts following the massive earthquake and tsunami, which killed nearly 30,000 people back in March (11).

“I find great inspiration in Tokyo from the people,” Pharrell said. “To me, the way that the Japanese people regard life and culture is completely unmatched. Tokyo is my second home and I jumped at the chance to come back and reconnect with friends during the exploration.”

The 30-minute clip also takes us to the underground flood system that tunnels under miles of the city to help push water into the ocean, demonstrations against nuclear power, an artist center called 3331, and even a stroll through the red-light district of Tokyo called Kabuki-cho with art group Chim Pom, who visit a secret bar for drinks.

The Tokyo Rising campaign will run from Sept 1, 2011 until Dec 31, 2011.
